CHANDIGARH/AMRITSAR, December 1:-           Amidst the ongoing drive to make Punjab a drug free state as per the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Counter Intelligence (CI) Amritsar has busted a cross-border narcotics smuggling module with the arrest of its one operative and recovered 5 kg heroin from his possession, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here on Monday.           The arrested accused has been identified as Kuldeep Singh, a resident of village Bhindi Aulakh Kalan in Amritsar Rural. Chandigarh, November 30- Protesting Punjab Roadways  and Punbus  employees called off their agitation on Sunday after consensus was reached during a meeting with the Transport Minister here at Patti, Tarn Taran. After the meeting, Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said that the suspended employees would be reinstated and the remaining legitimate demands of the employees would also be met soon. The Minister further said that the employees’ unions have agreed that they would not interfere in purchasing of new fleet of buses. The Department of Rural Development and Panchayats has clarified that due to this notification, the 15 Gram Panchayats of Panchayat Samiti, Mohali, are now excluded from the jurisdiction of the concerned Panchayat Samiti/Zila Parishad Mohali area. CHANDIGARH, November 30:-          Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 274th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 278 locations on Sunday leading to the arrest of 74 drug smugglers after registration of 59 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. The POP, conducted on Saturday, was reviewed by General Anil Chauhan, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, the Chief of Defence Staff. Chandigarh, November 29- Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday announced to embark the biggest road construction work taken up in the history of the state targeting to construct 44,920 KMs of roads with a total cost of Rs 16,209 Crore. Divulging more details, the Chief Minister said that the state government has decided that by the end of next year, it will build a total of 44,920 KMs of roads across all villages, towns and cities of Punjab at a total cost of Rs 16,209 Crore. He said that these roads will all be with the five years maintenance clause ensuring highest quality standards along with the world class road safety features.
