CHANDIGARH, July 31:           Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 152nd day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 380 locations on Thursday leading to the arrest of 101 drug smugglers after registration of 79 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 24,089 in 152 days.           The raids have resulted in recovery of 778 grams heroin, 17 quintals poppy husk, 18,671 intoxicant tablets/capsules and Rs 44,710 drug money from the possession of arrested drug smugglers.      &nbs...

Chandigarh, July 27: In a major step towards ensuring the dignity and welfare of senior citizens, the Punjab Government has disbursed an amount of ₹1347 crore under the Old Age Pension Scheme up to June 2025. This was stated today by Dr. Baljit Kaur, Punjab's Minister for Social Security, Women and Child Development. Sharing further details, Dr. Baljit Kaur said that as many as 22.75 lakh senior citizens have benefitted from the pension scheme till June 2025. Chandigarh, July 26: Punjab’s Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities, Dr. Baljit Kaur, announced today that under the Ashirwad Scheme, the State Government has released an amount of ₹13.43 crore for 2,634 beneficiaries belonging to backward and economically weaker sections during the current financial year 2025–26.
