Chandigarh July 23, 2025 :  The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its drive against corruption in the state has arrested Varinder Goyal, posted as Reader to President, District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Tarn Taran, while he was receiving a bribe of Rs 50000. Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the said accused has been apprehended based on a complaint filed by a resident of village Deo, in Tarn Taran district. Chandigarh, July 23: Dr. Baljit Kaur, Punjab Cabinet Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities, today informed that the Punjab Government has released an amount of ₹22.97 crore under the Ashirwad Scheme during the current financial year 2025-26 to benefit 4503 girls belonging to Scheduled Castes. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government’s commitment to eradicating child begging is producing visible results through the ongoing Jeevan Jyot Project 2.0. within just six days 137 children have been rescued from begging across the State.
