Chandigarh, 14 October: Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur informed that the Punjab Government has released a total amount of ₹8.76 crore for 1,718 beneficiaries from backward classes and economically weaker sections under the Ashirwad Scheme during the current financial year 2025-26. Providing further details, Dr. Baljit Kaur said that under the Ashirwad Scheme, applications from beneficiaries in Barnala, Bathinda, Faridkot, Firozpur, Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Moga, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Patiala, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar, SBS Nagar, Sangrur, and Malerkotla were received during the current financial year. CHANDIGARH, October 13:           Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 226th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 364 locations on Monday leading to the arrest of 79 drug smugglers after registration of 63 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. October: The Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission has taken suo moto notice in the suicide case of Haryana's ADGP Y Puran Kumar in Chandigarh and has sought a report from the Director General of Police Chandigarh.
