Chandigarh, April 11: Taking a significant decision to digitize employee attendance, the Punjab Transport Department has implemented an online attendance system from today onwards. All employees will now be required to mark their online attendance twice daily. Punjab Transport Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar said that previously, attendance was recorded manually in registers. He said that complete training has been provided to all employees working in the Transport Department and SDM offices including regular, outsourced, contractual staff and lab attendants, to ensure a smooth transition to the online attendance system. Vigilance Bureau arrests ASI for accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 Bribe

Chandigarh, April 09, 2025:  The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), as part of its ongoing campaign against corruption, on Wednesday arrested Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Jaswant Singh, posted Police Station Cantonment, Amritsar, for accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000. An official spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau disclosed that the arrest was made following a complaint filed by a resident of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. The spokesperson further stated that the complainant had lodged a complaint on the Anti-Corruption helpline, alleging that his son had an accident with an autorickshaw and the accused ASI allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 5,000 to resolve the case.
