Sri Anandpur Sahib, January 6:
I extend my heartfelt greetings to the entire Sikh community on the Prakash Purab of Sahib-e-Kamaal, Sarbansdani, and the creator of Khalsa, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji. Today, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Dasmesh Pita, I had the privilege of paying obeisance at the birthplace of the Khalsa, Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib. Listening to the divine Kirtan brought peace to my soul, and my entire family feels truly blessed, said Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria during his visit to Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib today.
Accompanied by his wife Anita Kataria, the Governor offered prayers at Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib and held discussion with Singh Sahib Giani Sultan Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, to learn more about Guru Sahib’s life and legacy.
Speaking to the media, Governor Kataria remarked, “Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, in 1699, established the Khalsa Panth by initiating the Panj Pyare with Amrit. At the tender age of 9, Guru Sahib sacrificed his father, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, for the welfare of humanity. The martyrdom of his father commands reverence across the world. Guru Sahib’s four sons made the supreme sacrifice for the sake of upholding humanitarian principles and righteousness—two of whom attained martyrdom in battle, while the other two were bricked alive. Such unparalleled sacrifices are unique in the annals of not only Indian but world history. Guru Sahib transformed Sikhs into Singhs and bestowed the gift of the Five Ks (Kakaars).
“Today, I feel fortunate to have visited Sri Anandpur Sahib, a sacred and historic land that we bow our heads to, with utmost reverence,” he added.
The Governor, along with his family, also visited the Virasat-e-Khalsa Museum. He expressed admiration for the preservation and grandeur of this heritage site. “The honor and recognition received by Virasat-e-Khalsa globally speak volumes about its significance. The museum provides an exceptional insight into Punjab’s history, culture, and the legacy of the Ten Guru Sahiban. It was truly an enlightening experience,” he shared.
Earlier, at Kisan Haveli in Sri Anandpur Sahib, the Governor was accorded a Guard of Honor. He was accompanied by Rupnagar Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain (IAS), SSP Gulneet Singh Khurana (IPS), Additional Deputy Commissioner Pooja Syal, DRO Badal Deen, DSP Ajay Singh, and Tehsildar Amritbir Singh.
