CHANDIGARH, October 6: Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 219th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 335 locations on Monday leading to the arrest of 72 drug smugglers after registration of 56 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 32,054 in 219 days. Vigilance Bureau arrests Punjab Roadways Superintendent red-handed accepting Rs 40000 bribe

Chandigarh, October 6, 2025: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, has arrested Balwant Singh, Superintendent, posted at the Punjab Roadways depot-1 in Jalandhar red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 40000. Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the VB stated that the case was registered based on a complaint filed by a retired driver of Punjab Roadways. “The complainant has approached the VB alleging that the aforementioned Superintendent has demanded Rs 50000 in lieu of preparing his overtime bills pending prior to his retirement.
