Zero tolerance against corruption : Vigilance Bureau arrests ASI demanding bribe of Rs. 5 lakh

Chandigarh, November 26, 2025: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), in line with the zero tolerance policy adopted by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab government, has apprehended an ASI Jaswinder Singh posted at police station Bhogpur, district Jalandhar for demanding a bribe Rs. 5 lakh. Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the arrest has been made following a complaint lodged by a resident of Maqsudan, Jalandhar city on the Chief Minister’s Anti Corruption Action Line portal. During the enquiry, it was found that the complainant was nominated as an accused in a case registered at police station Bhogpur. CHANDIGARH, November 26:- Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 270th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 358 locations on Wednesday leading to the arrest of 104 drug smugglers after registration of 83 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 38,150 in 270 days.
