Chandigarh, July 27: In a major step towards ensuring the dignity and welfare of senior citizens, the Punjab Government has disbursed an amount of ₹1347 crore under the Old Age Pension Scheme up to June 2025. This was stated today by Dr. Baljit Kaur, Punjab's Minister for Social Security, Women and Child Development. Sharing further details, Dr. Baljit Kaur said that as many as 22.75 lakh senior citizens have benefitted from the pension scheme till June 2025. She further informed that a budgetary allocation of ₹4100 crore has been made under the scheme for the current financial year. Chandigarh, July 25: In a historic decision, the Punjab Cabinet led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday gave its consent to introduce The Seeds (Punjab Amendment) Bill 2025 to make sale of spurious seeds a non bailable offence. A decision to this effect was taken by the Council of Ministers in its meeting held here under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister today. Chandigarh, July 24: Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur today handed over appointment letters to newly recruited employees of the department at Punjab Bhawan. Sharing further details, Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that under the ongoing recruitment drive of the department, appointments have been made to 10 posts of Anganwadi Supervisors, 6 posts of Superintendents (Children Homes), and 1 post of District Social Security Officer.
