CHANDIGARH, September 14:           Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 197th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 433 locations on Sunday leading to the arrest of 94 drug smugglers after registration of 71 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 29,519 in 197 days.           The raids have resulted in recovery of 22.2 kg heroin, 11 kg ganja, 2125 intoxicant tablets/capsules and Rs 2.01 lakh drug money from the possession of arrested drug smugglers.        &n...

Chandigarh, September 14: Proving true to its holy commitment of hand holding the families ravaged by floods, as many as 50 such families stand awarded the compensation to the tune of Rs. 2 Cr. Stating this, the Revenue Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian said that due to the catastrophic floods, 56 precious lives have been lost in Punjab. Out of these, compensation has been given to 50 families while the rest of 6 families would also be awarded compensation soon. Mr Mundian further said that Girdawari work has started and it will be completed at the earliest. Full compensation will be given to flood affected persons for their loss. Chandigarh, September 14: Punjab Rural Development and Panchayats Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond informed that the Punjab Government has launched a comprehensive flood relief and rehabilitation programme across rural Punjab to address the extensive damage caused by recent floods in more than 2,300 villages. The drive will focus on immediate relief, restoration of essential infrastructure, and transparent execution of works.
