Chandigarh, September 19, 2025 – Continuing its ongoing relentless drive against corruption in the state, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), has arrested an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Talwinder Singh, posted at Police Station-A Division, Amritsar red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000. Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the accused police official has been arrested following a complaint filed by a resident of Amritsar. The Cabinet Ministers directed immediate deployment of additional resources including specialized floating excavators, poclains and JCBs to expedite removal of silt deposits and restore the river to its original course. Chandigarh, September 18: The Punjab Government has intensified its efforts to restore normalcy in flood-affected villages across the state. In the last four days, a total of Rs 10.21 crore has been spent on cleaning operations and desilting. Rural Development and Panchayats Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond said that, under the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the scientific disposal of dead animals during the floods is being ensured. He informed that Rs 17.54 lakh has been spent on the disposal of 259 animals. Chandigarh, September 17: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has revised the existing guidelines under Rule 49B of the Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961, for the design and printing of EVM Ballot Papers to enhance their clarity and readability. The initiative is in line with the 28 initiatives already taken by the ECI in the past 6 months to streamline and improve election processes and enhance convenience for voters. CHANDIGARH, September 17:           Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 200th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 414 locations on Wednesday leading to the arrest of 93 drug smugglers after registration of 61 first information reports (FIRs) across the state.
