Punjab Government’s prime focus is lifting in mandis: Lal Chand Kataruchak

Chandigarh, April 24: The prime focus of the Punjab Government is the lifting in mandis, revealed the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak today and asked the officers to speed up the same. In a high level meeting at Anaj Bhawan with the top brass of the department, the Minister also exhorted the officers to concentrate for the next 15 days on accelerating the lifting in mandis so as to avoid glut like situation. During the meeting, the Minister was apprised that the Principal Secretary of the department conducts meetings with the DCs every week in order to ensure there is no let up in the lifting process especially. Chandigarh, April 21, 2025 – The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), in line with the the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s zero tolerance policy against corruption,  has arrested Raj Kumar, Assistant Town Planner (ATP), Municipal Corporation Phagwara, and Rajesh Kumar, a private architect, from Phagwara for accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000. A spokesperson of the state VB informed that the arrests were made based on a complaint received from a resident of Phagwara, in Kapurthala district. The complainant has approached the VB alleging that the private architect had initially demanded a bribe of Rs 1,50,000 to facilitate the approval of a house map plan through the concerned town planning official.
