Vigilance Bureau nabs PSPCL JE taking Rs 7000 bribe

Chandigarh February 1, 2025 -  The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, has apprehended Sandeep Kumar, Junior Engineer (J.E), posted at Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) office, Bhucho in Bathinda red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 7000. Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above mentioned accused have been arrested based on a complaint lodged by Gurdas Singh, a resident of Bhucho Kalan, in Bathinda district. He further informed that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused JE has demanded a bribe of Rs 7000 for installing a new transformer for domestic supply. Sirhind Feeder to close for 28 days

Chandigarh, January 30:           A spokesperson of Punjab Government informed that under rule 63 of Rules framed under the Northern India Canal & Drainage Act, 1873 (Act No. VIII of 1873) and subject to weather conditions and the status of crops, Sirhind Feeder will remain closed for works of relining for 28 days from 01-02-2025 to 28-02-2025 (both days inclusive).           A notification regarding this has been issued by Water Resources Department.

Chandigarh, January 29, 2025:  The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing drive against corruption, has arrested a retired Head Constable (HC) Balwinder Singh, an accomplice of the Station House Officer (SHO) of police station Machhiwara in Ludhiana district while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. The accused had been performing duties at the police station without any official orders from the police department.
