Chandigarh, July 25: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday asked the environmental expert committee to thoroughly examine the Bagga Kalan and Akhaara CBG plants and submit its report in a time bound manner. The Chief Minister, while interacting with the villagers from the both the village in Ludhiana, said that the expert committee comprising representatives from pollution control board, universities and others should meet the villagers and assess all the points related to setting of these plants. CHANDIGARH, July 24:           Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 145th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 400 locations on Thursday leading to the arrest of 85 drug smugglers after registration of 60 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 23,237 in 145 days.           The raids have resulted in recovery of 1.6 kg heroin, 1 kg opium, 8353 intoxicant tablets/pills/injections and Rs 8.09 lakh drug money from the possession of arrested drug smugglers.        ...

Chandigarh/Auckland, July 24: Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission Chairman Jasvir Singh Garhi met Indian Ambassador to New Zealand Dr. Madan Mohan Sethi. During this meeting, Mr. Garhi discussed with Mr. Sethi the issues of the Punjabi community living in New Zealand. He requested the Indian Ambassador to take special steps to increase trade activities between New Zealand and Punjab so that the farmers of Punjab can become more prosperous. He said that most of the people from Punjab who have settled in New Zealand are excelling in the field of agriculture. CHANDIGARH, July 23:           With the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state completed 144 days, Punjab Police on Wednesday arrested 130 drug smugglers and recovered 2 kg heroin, 500 grams opium and Rs 62,580 drug money from their possession. Chandigarh, July 22: In a major decision under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Cabinet on Tuesday approved several farmer-friendly amendments to the Land Pooling Policy-2025. The most significant highlight of these amendments is that farmers will now receive an annual livelihood allowance of ₹1 lakh until their land is developed — a fivefold increase compared to the ₹20,000 given by previous governments. The government has also assured long-term support by announcing a 10% annual increment in this ₹1 lakh amount. To ensure faster and more transparent processes, the government will now issue a Letter of Intent (LOI) to farmers within 21 days.
