Chandigarh, July 29- In a significant move to honour the legacy of Shaheed Udham Singh Ji and fulfil the long-standing demand of the Kamboj community, the Punjab Government has declared a gazetted holiday on July 31st to commemorate the martyrdom day of the legendary freedom fighter, stated Mr. Aman Arora, AAP State President and Cabinet Minister, Punjab. Chandigarh, July 28: Punjab’s Minister for Social Security, Women and Child Development, Dr. Baljit Kaur, stated that the Punjab Government’s flagship initiative Project JEEVANJYOT-2 is emerging as a beacon of hope for children forced into begging. She informed that during 19 special raids conducted across the state today, a total of 6 children were rescued. With this, the cumulative number of children rescued under the campaign has reached 203 in just 12 days since the project’s launch. Chandigarh, July 27: Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur today informed that under the ongoing state-level campaign “Project JEEVANJYOT–2”, three child beggars were rescued during 11 special raids carried out across various districts of Punjab. Since the launch of this phase of the campaign, a total of 195 children have been rescued through 190 special raids conducted over the last 11 days. She added that these raids were conducted by the district-level Child Protection Teams in Barnala, Bathinda, Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Pathankot, Patiala, Sangrur, Sri Muktsar Sahib, and Tarn Taran. CHANDIGARH, July 25:           Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 146th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 414 locations on Friday leading to the arrest of 103 drug smugglers after registration of 69 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 23,377 in 146 days.           The raids have resulted in recovery of 21.17 kg heroin, 1 kg opium, 8859 intoxicant tablets/pills/injections and Rs 1.62 lakh drug money from the possession of arrested drug smugglers.       &nbs...
