Fazilka, March 7: The Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department has intensified efforts to expand the cotton acreage in Fazilka district. In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu held a meeting with various departments today to ensure necessary preparations for the upcoming cotton season.The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for immediate preventive measures against whitefly and pink bollworm infestations in cotton crops. She directed all departments to eliminate weeds from their respective areas. Khanna (Ludhiana), March 6  Continuing its crackdown on illegal properties owned by drug peddlers, the Khanna Police, in collaboration with Municipal Council authorities, demolished six structures in the local meat market on Thursday morning. These properties were built by illegally encroaching on Municipal Council land and allegedly financed with drug money. Chandigarh, March 5: Punjab Labour Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond has announced that registered construction workers and their family members are eligible for free medical assistance of up to Rs. 5 lakh under the Ayushman Bharat Chief Minister Insurance Scheme. He stated that this assistance can be availed at any empanelled hospital. To benefit from the scheme, registered construction workers must obtain an Ayushman Card, which can be made at any government hospital.
