Chandigarh, October 26: Amidst its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) arrested Surinder Dhillon, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) of Sri Muktsar Sahib, on Saturday. He is accused of embezzling funds from grants released for compensation related to land acquired for the Amritsar-Kolkata Corridor Project in Patiala district. Chandigarh, May 17: Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C said on Friday that a total of 328 candidates will contest the 13 Lok Sabha seats in Punjab, compared to 253 in 2014 and 278 candidates in 2019.           The CEO said that a total of 25 candidates have withdrawn their names by the last date for withdrawal of nominations. Earlier, 466 candidates had filed 598 nominations in the state.
