Chandigarh, January 8:           The Punjab Government has declared a local holiday on the occasion of Mela Maghi on January 14, 2025 (Tuesday) in government offices, boards/corporations and  educational institutions of district Sri Muktsar Sahib.           The official spokesperson of the government said, a notification in this regard has been issued.

Jalandhar, January 7 : In a major breakthrough, the Jalandhar Rural Police solved a murder case within 24 hours, arresting two accused in connection with the killing of a man in Akalpur village, Phillaur. The accused have been identified as Lakhvir Singh, son of Pyara Singh, and Arvinder Singh, son of Kewal Singh, both residents of Bakkapur village. Jalandhar, January 6 : In a significant breakthrough against organized crime, the Jalandhar Rural Police arrested a main shooter of the Balachoria and Kaushal gang extortion ring. The accused was found to be instrumental in a plot to target a crusher owner in Himachal Pradesh and was being used by the gang as a front to make extortion calls. Chandigarh, January 4, 2025 – The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption, has arrested Constable Sukhpreet Singh, a gunman attached to the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Bathinda for collecting monthly bribes amounting to Rs 20-25 lakhs from transporters with the help of their accomplices. The Mohali court has sent him on four days police remand to the VB for further questioning.
