Chandigarh, July 24 Underscoring the Aam Aadmi Party-led government's unwavering commitment to bolstering the education and health sectors, Punjab Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema on Thursday announced a significant increase in the monthly stipends for Interns, Junior Residents, and Senior Residents across government medical and dental colleges in the state. In his letter, he mentioned that 111 years ago, on July 23, 1914, the Guru Nanak Jahaj departed from Canada to return to India. The ship reached Kolkata's Bajbaj Ghat on September 29, 1914, where the British government opened fire, martyring 19 passengers. CHANDIGARH, July 10:           With the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state completed 131 days, Punjab Police on Thursday arrested 129 drug smugglers and recovered 4.2 kg heroin, 509 grams opium and ₹23,370 drug money from their possession.
