Chandigarh, October 16, 2025 – Continuing its relentless drive against corruption in the state, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) arrested a deed writer, Deepak Kumar, working in the tehsil complex of Pathankot, red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000. An official spokesperson for the state VB disclosed that the accused was arrested following a complaint from a resident of Bungol village in Pathankot district. The spokesperson stated that the complainant approached the bureau alleging that after purchasing land, he had met the accused to get the property registered. Chandigarh, October 15: Ahead of Diwali, the Punjab government, led by CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, brought relief to flood victims by distributing ₹6.3 crore in compensation. 12 cabinet ministers on Wednesday handed over sanction letters to affected families across state, fulfilling the government's promise under "Mission Rehabilitation". However, On October 13, the Chief Minister had launched the state-wide compensation drive from Ajnala by disbursing Rs.5.70 crore among 631 families. CHANDIGARH, October 14:           Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 227th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 365 locations on Tuesday leading to the arrest of 76 drug smugglers after registration of 55 first information reports (FIRs) across the state.
