Chandigarh, June 20: For the first time in the history of the state, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday gave nod to a 14 point action plan as a part of Integrated State Water Plan to preserve and replenish groundwater in the state. Chairing a meeting of the Water Resources department pertaining to Integrated State Water Plan, the Chief Minister said that the plan has been meticulously prepared by the Water Resources department of the state in consultation with all the eminent departments. He said that the situation in the state is already alarming as 115 blocks of the state out of total 153 are over exploited in terms of groundwater extraction. Harbhajan Singh ETO orders Traffic Census in the State

Harbhajan Singh ETO on Thursday instructed officials to conduct a traffic census in the state.  Directing the officials to complete the traffic census on the state's roads by September 30, the Cabinet Minister said that the data would aid in rationalizing road upgrades and new constructions. CHANDIGARH, June 19:           With the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state completed 110 days, Punjab Police on Thursday arrested 132 drug smugglers and recovered 1.08 kg heroin and Rs 87,540 drug money from their possession.
