CHANDIGARH, October 17:           Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 230th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 326 locations on Friday leading to the arrest of 59 drug smugglers after registration of 57 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. Chandigarh, October 16, 2025 – Continuing its relentless drive against corruption in the state, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) arrested a deed writer, Deepak Kumar, working in the tehsil complex of Pathankot, red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000. An official spokesperson for the state VB disclosed that the accused was arrested following a complaint from a resident of Bungol village in Pathankot district. The spokesperson stated that the complainant approached the bureau alleging that after purchasing land, he had met the accused to get the property registered. Out of this, ₹3.50 crore will be distributed to flood victims in Sangrur district.
