Chandigarh, September 19: Punjab Water Resources Minister Sh. Barinder Kumar Goyal today directed officials to expedite the plugging of river breaches without any delay. Chairing an urgent meeting with officials of the Water Resources Department, the Cabinet Minister reviewed the situation and took stock of the ongoing works for plugging embankment breaches and strengthening vulnerable stretches across the state. CHANDIGARH, September 17:           Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 200th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 414 locations on Wednesday leading to the arrest of 93 drug smugglers after registration of 61 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 29,930 in 200 days.           The raids have resulted in recovery of 323 grams heroin, 126 kg poppy husk, 525 intoxicant tablets/capsules and Rs 2800 drug money from the possession of arrested drug smugglers.       &nb...

Chandigarh/ New Delhi, September 16, Referring to the recent floods that damaged 5 Lakh acres under various crops in 2185 villages of the state, the Punjab Agriculture Minister S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian today urged the Central government to provide additional financial assistance of Rs. 151 crore to the State under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) for restoration of land silted-up due to floods in border districts of Punjab.
