CHANDIGARH, October 2:           Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 215th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 288 locations on Thursday leading to the arrest of 78 drug smugglers after registration of 60 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 31,649 in 215 days.           The raids have resulted in recovery of 4 kg heroin, 500 grams opium, 842 intoxicant tablets/capsules and Rs 2.13 lakh drug money from the possession of arrested drug smugglers.        &nb...

Chandigarh, October 01: Under its continued efforts for the welfare of senior citizens in the state, the Punjab Government has disbursed an amount of ₹2055.05 crore under the Old Age Pension Scheme till August 2025. This was disclosed by the Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister, Dr. Baljit Kaur. The Minister informed that during this period, as many as 23.09 lakh elderly beneficiaries availed the benefits of the scheme. She further added that for the current financial year, the State Government has earmarked a budget of ₹4100 crore for the Old Age Pension Scheme.
