Faridkot: During Operation Sindoor launched by India against Pakistan, while people in all areas of Punjab faced many difficulties and an atmosphere of fear prevailed among the people, the people of Faridkot area did not face as many problems. Apart from the district and police administration of Faridkot, the military autiorities of Faridkot also fulfilled their complete responsibility for the protection of the people, which allowed the people of this area to sleep peacefully. The general public of Faridkot also thanked the administration, police and military authorities for keeping there district safe during this crisis. The people of the area say that they always stand with the army in difficult times.
Social worker Mehakdeep Singh from village Machaki Kalan of this district explained that when there was a tense atmosphere between India and Pakistan, our army was fully active. He said that the people of our area were also giving full support to the army. Some progressive youth of the village also kept thikri pehra and drone sentry duty at night, so that other people could sleep peacefully and the army or police could be informed about any suspicious incidents and movement of drones. During this time, police teams were also maintaining contact with the people and assuring them of security. On night of 10 May there are also reports that a drone was destroyed by Indian Army at Faridkot and debries were recovered by locals and handed over to army and police the next day.
Similarly, Parvinder Singh from village Kammeana explained that their village falls right next to the Faridkot cantonment. Therefore, police were continuously coming to the villages to inform people about government instructions and providing complete security guarantee. According to police information, military authorities were keeping a complete watch on enemy forces’ activities. People of all surrounding villages had complete faith in the army and the youth of the villages were also standing shoulder to shoulder with the army. They thanked the army and assured that the people of Punjab always stand behind our military brothers.
Faridkot’s Deputy Commissioner Punamdeep Kaur and SSP Pragya Jain continuously assured people that the administration, police and army were working day and night for people’s security and demonstrated an excellent example of Civil Military Defence. Therefore, there was no sign of fear among the people of this area.
The patriotic people of Faridkot area gave full cooperation to the administration, Indian Army and police. Whenever instructions were given by the administration for blackouts, people fully complied with the instructions. Even the markets and traffic of Faridkot were closed after 7 PM. There was no news of any strictness by police anywhere in the Faridkot area, because people were giving full support.
From these circumstances, it has become clear that if the current administration, police and military authorities are fulfilling their complete responsibility for people’s security, then people are also adopting a feeling of respect towards them. This has made this area such a region of Punjab where even in times of war , people continue with there routine and have full faith in armed forces of India.
