Chandigarh, April 15: Mrs Raj Lali Gill, Chairperson, Punjab State Women Commission, will visit Rupnagar on April 16, 2025, to participate as the chief guest in a programme on women empowerment being organised at Government College, Rupnagar where she will address the gathering and interact with students and faculty members. During the visit, she will inspect the Sakhi One Stop Centre and the Women Cell, Rupnagar to review the functioning of services aimed at supporting women in distress. Chairperson Mrs Gill will take stock of the initiatives being undertaken for the welfare and empowerment of women, and offer necessary guidance to further strengthen these efforts.

Chandigarh/Tarn Taran, April 12:           Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav on Saturday, attended the cremation ceremony of Martyr Sub-Inspector (SI) Charanjit Singh took place at Theh Sarhali village in Tarn Taran district and paid his respect to the brave officer, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.           SI Charanjit Singh, 57, who joined the Police force as a constable in 1989 and was currently posted at Police Station Goindwal Sahib had lost his life in the line of duty on April 9, 2025. CHANDIGARH, April 11:           With the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state entered 42nd day, Punjab Police on Friday arrested 109 drug smugglers and recovered 2.9 kg heroin, 1.6 kg opium, 350 kg poppy husk, and ₹26220 drug money from their possession.
