Jalandhar, February 5 : In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Jalandhar Rural Police has arrested two drug smugglers and seized 50 grams of heroin in an intelligence-based operation. The accused, who sourced the contraband from the border areas of Tarn Taran, were apprehended by the CIA staff near Johlan Gate under the jurisdiction of Patara Police Station. Chandigarh, February 04, 2025 -  The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Wednesday has apprehended Amrit Bhushan, posted as Head Cashier at PSPCL office in Dinanagar in Gurdaspur district for demanding and receiving a bribe of Rs 2,60,000. Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above-mentioned accused has been arrested after an inquiry of a complaint lodged by Raghubir Singh, a resident of Changi Saroop Dass, district Gurdaspur. Chandigarh, February 3: The Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, has distributed ₹3368.89 crore as pension to 22.68 elderly beneficiaries until December 2024. Providing further details,  Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that the government is committed to the welfare of all sections of society. She mentioned that there are a total of 34 lakh beneficiaries in the state, including the elderly, divyang persons, widows, destitute women and dependent children.
