Major Crackdown by Batala Police Under ‘War Against Drugs’ Campaign

Batala/Chandigarh, March 29 In a major crackdown under the Punjab Government’s “War Against Drugs” campaign, Batala police today conducted raids in drug-affected areas, including Village Sheikhupura. The operation was led by SSP Suhail Qasim Mir, with teams comprising SPs, DSPs and SHOs carrying out extensive searches and interrogating suspects. Addressing mediapersons, SSP Mir said the drive was undertaken as per the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and DGP Gaurav Yadav. He said 110 cases were registered and 175 smugglers arrested in March alone. Chandigarh, March 28 The Punjab Vidhan Sabha on Friday passed the resolution moved by Punjab Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh to adopt the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Amendment Act, 2024. With the passing of this resolution, the adoption of this Act in Punjab has been approved.  Dr. Ravjot Singh said that the Parliament of India had enacted the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 in 1974 to prevent and control water pollution and maintain the purity of water. Urban estates to be built in cities of Punjab: Mundian

Chandigarh, March 27 Housing and Urban Development Minister Hardip Singh Mundian has said that sites are being explored to build urban estates in cities/towns of the state. Mr. Mundian was responding to a question raised by MLA from Nakodar Inderjit Kaur Mann during the Question Hour of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha today regarding the establishment of Urban Estates in Nakodar and Nurmahal. The Minister said that the department has issued instructions to the Chief Administrators of all development authorities of the state to select suitable sites in order to establish urban estates in their respective jurisdictions and then send the proposals to the government. He said that as per these instructions, the concerned authorities are searching for suitable sites.
