Chandigarh, August 13:           Punjab Labour Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sond said that several schemes have been simplified to ensure ease of access for workers. He said that in ‘Shagun Scheme’ of the Punjab Building Workers Welfare Board, the earlier requirement of a marriage certificate issued by a Tehsildar has been removed. Now, a certificate from the religious institution where the marriage was solemnized, along with a self-declaration from both families, will suffice.           Sond said that under this scheme, an amount of Rs 51,000 is provided. CHANDIGARH, August 12:           Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 164th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 352 locations on Tuesday leading to the arrest of 95 drug smugglers after registration of 62 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. Chandigarh, 11 August  2025: The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing crusade against corruption in the state, has been able to apprehend 10 officials  red handed while accepting bribes in 8 different trap cases during the month of July. Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the state VB said the VB has put up its best efforts to eradicate corruption amongst public servants and others in every sphere during the period.
