Chandigarh/Ludhiana/Jalandhar, September 18: Punjab Water Resources Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal and Revenue Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian today inspected the ongoing desilting works in the Satluj river at Sasrali Colony in Ludhiana district. The Cabinet Ministers directed immediate deployment of additional resources including specialized floating excavators, poclains and JCBs to expedite removal of silt deposits and restore the river to its original course. Notably, the Punjab Government has already deployed advanced floating excavators to divert the flow of the river back to its natural route. Chandigarh, September 17: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has revised the existing guidelines under Rule 49B of the Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961, for the design and printing of EVM Ballot Papers to enhance their clarity and readability. The initiative is in line with the 28 initiatives already taken by the ECI in the past 6 months to streamline and improve election processes and enhance convenience for voters. A spokesperson informed that photographs of candidates will be printed in colour on the EVM Ballot Paper. The candidate's face will occupy three-fourths of the photo space for better visibility.
