JALANDHAR RURAL POLICE ARREST FEMALE DRUG SMUGGLER WITH 4.8 KG GANJA

Jalandhar, February 16: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Jalandhar Rural Police have arrested a female drug smuggler and recovered 4.8 kg of ganja (cannabis) during a special operation in the Maksuda area. The accused has been identified as Shivani Kumari, wife of Shahid Abdul, a resident of Nawabganj, District Katyar (Bihar), currently residing near the Railway Station on Kapurthala Road, Kartarpur.  Chandigarh, February 16: In a significant move towards decarbonising the power sector and reducing the state's reliance on conventional energy sources, the Punjab Government has installed rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) panels on 4,474 government buildings. Additionally, the state has also set a target to add 20 MW of solar power by installing more rooftop solar PV panels on government buildings during the FY 2025-26. Sharing this information today, Punjab New and Renewable Energy Sources Minister Mr. Aman Arora said that the rooftop solar PV power panels with a capacity of 34 MW have already been installed on 4,474 government buildings in the state as of December 2024. Chandigarh, February 15, 2025 – The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), as part of its ongoing anti-corruption drive, has arrested Harjit Singh, ex- Sarpanch of village Kalia, and Manjit Singh, Lambardar of village Sakatra in Tarn Taran district for committing embezzlement of Rs 20 lakh from compensation funds meant for farmers and others affected by floods. Chandigarh, February 12, 2025:  The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has apprehended Sukhdev Singh, a resident of Chandigarh, one of the key co-accused in the ‘Guava Orchard Scam’ that took place in village Bakarpur, SAS Nagar district in the year 2016-17. The accused had fraudulently received approximately Ra 12 crore in compensation in his own and his wife’s accounts, in collusion with government officials and other individuals.
