Chandigarh, March 24: Punjab’s Minister for Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities, Dr. Baljit Kaur, announced that the Punjab Government has released ₹12.99 crore under the Ashirwad Scheme for the financial year 2024-25. This amount will benefit 2,549 individuals from backward classes and economically weaker sections. CHANDIGARH, March 22:           With the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state entered 22nd day, Punjab Police on Saturday arrested 75 drug smugglers and recovered 5.2 kg heroin, 10 kg opium and ₹2.2 lakhs drug money from their possession. Chandigarh, March 21, 2025:           The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Friday, arrested Harjit Singh, a Forest Guard, posted at Malerkotla, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.           Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the arrest was made following verification a complaint filed by a resident of Malerkotla.
