CHANDIGARH, September 30:           Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 213th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 300 locations on Tuesday leading to the arrest of 71 drug smugglers after registration of 48 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 31,441 in 213 days.           The raids have resulted in recovery of 5.38 kg heroin, 1.3 kg opium, 5 kg poppy husk, 465 intoxicant tablets/capsules and Rs 1480 drug money from the possession of arrested drug smugglers.      &...

Chandigarh September 29, 2025 -  The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its drive against corruption has apprehended Harjit Singh, Junior Engineer (JE), Education Department, posted at  Kapurthala red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs. 4000. Disclosing this a spokesperson of the VB said the accused has been arrested following a complainant from a school teacher posted in Government School, Dhaliwal Dona, in Kapurthala district. He further stated that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the aforementioned accused had demanded a bribe of Rs. 10,000 for issuing a completion certificate in respect of a grant amounting to Rs 40 lakh, utilized by the said school. Presenting the bill, the Punjab Local Government Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh said that the motive of this bill to enable the urban local bodies of the State to utilize funds available with the Improvement Trusts.
