Jalandhar, January 7 : In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Jalandhar Rural Police have dismantled an interstate poppy husk smuggling racket operating between Madhya Pradesh and Punjab. Acting on specific intelligence, a team from Phillaur Police Station intercepted a truck carrying 01 quintals and 44 kilograms of crushed poppy husk concealed beneath sacks of onions and garlic during a naka operation near Lasara village. The arrested smugglers have been identified as Buta Singh and Kulwant Singh, both residents of Sant Nagar, Phillaur. Amritsar, January 6, 2025: MLA from the Central Assembly constituency, Dr Ajay Gupta said that a camp is being organized at his office in Hathi Ke at 11:30 am on January 8 to give the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to the people. He said that in the camp, under this scheme, the beneficiaries are given money to build 2 rooms, a bathroom and a kitchen.
