Chandigarh, October 6: In a humanitarian gesture, the staff and management of multinational giant Larsen and Toubro company has contributed Rs 5 crore to the Chardikala Mission started by the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann for helping the flood victims of the state. Chandigarh 6 October 2025: Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker S. Kultar Singh Sandhwan said that  US government's decision to ban on beards of Sikh soldiers in the US army is highly condemnable and unfortunate. This action of the US government is also an insult to the Sikh soldiers who fought in Saragarhi and  World War. He highlighted that maintaining unshorn hair is an integral part of Sikh religious identity. He said tha central government should immediately raise this issue with the US government and put diplomatic pressure so that this decision can be reversed.

CHANDIGARH, October 6:           Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 219th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 335 locations on Monday leading to the arrest of 72 drug smugglers after registration of 56 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. Chandigarh, October 6: A government spokesperson informed that the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC), New Delhi will hold a Public Hearing on October 9, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the UT Guest House, Chandigarh to consider the inclusion of various castes from Punjab in the Central Government’s OBC list. The spokesperson stated that the purpose of this Public Hearing is to provide an opportunity for representatives of the concerned communities to present their views, facts, and demands directly before the Commission. The State Government has appealed to all community representatives and groups concerned to actively participate in the Public Hearing and present their suggestions and viewpoints before the Commission.

Chandigarh, October 6, 2025:  The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, has arrested Balwant Singh, Superintendent, posted at the Punjab Roadways depot-1 in Jalandhar red-handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 40000. Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the VB stated that the case was registered based on a complaint filed by a retired driver of Punjab Roadways. “The complainant has approached the VB alleging that the aforementioned Superintendent has demanded Rs 50000 in lieu of preparing his overtime bills pending prior to his retirement. Sanjeev Arora on July 1, 2025. The term of the vacated seat is up to April 9, 2028.
