Vigilance Bureau arrests ASI for taking Rs 15,000 bribe

Chandigarh 29 January 2025 : The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing crackdown against bribery, has arrested Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Prashotam Lal, posted at Police Station Aur, District Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar on charges of taking bribe of Rs 15,000. He had been absconding for the last 4 months, evading his arrest in this case. Chandigarh, January 29, 2025:  The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing drive against corruption, has arrested a retired Head Constable (HC) Balwinder Singh, an accomplice of the Station House Officer (SHO) of police station Machhiwara in Ludhiana district while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000. The accused had been performing duties at the police station without any official orders from the police department. Harbhajan Singh ETO announced today that since April 2022, a total of 6,586 recruitments have been completed by Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (PSTCL).
