Chandigarh/Rupnagar, April 18: Punjab's Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak on Friday reviewed the ongoing wheat procurement arrangements at the grain market of Rupnagar, He said that this time there has been a bumper crop of wheat in Punjab and about 125 lakh metric tonnes of wheat is likely to arrive during this season. Food and Supplies Minister Mr. Kataruchak further said that till now 13 lakh 16 thousand metric tons of wheat have arrived in the markets. Out of this, about 11 lakh metric tons have been purchased. Vigilance Bureau unearths scam involving bribes for issuing fake dope test reports

Chandigarh, April 17, 2025 –  The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has uncovered a corruption scam at Civil Hospital Bholath in Kapurthala district, where employees were taking bribes to issue false negative dope test reports. Acting on a complaint filed on the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line, the VB arrested two accused – Manpreet Singh alias Sonu, a ward attendant, and Bholu alias Ismail, a contractual computer operator, for accepting Rs 10000. The role of Dr. Mohitpal, posted in the said hospital and a contractual laboratory technician, Maan Singh, is under investigation.
