CHANDIGARH, October 21:           Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 234th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 248 locations on Tuesday leading to the arrest of 11 drug smugglers after registration of 11 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 33,519 in 234 days.           The raids have resulted in recovery of 4.2 kg heroin, 338 intoxicant tablets/capsules and Rs 23,220 drug money from the possession of arrested drug smugglers.           Notably,...

Chandigarh, October 21:  11 nomination papers were filed on Tuesday, the last day of filing nominations for the bye-election to the 21-Tarn Taran Assembly Constituency. A spokesperson of the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab informed that Congress candidate Karanbir Singh filed one more nomination paper today. In addition, Mandeep Singh S/o Mohinder Pal Singh submitted two nomination papers as an independent candidate.
