Chandigarh, July 8: Punjab Jails Minister S. Laljit Singh Bhullar today handed over appointment letters to 12 newly recruited prison officials at a formal ceremony held at his office at Punjab Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh. He was accompanied by MLA Atam Nagar Ludhiana, Sh. Kulwant Singh Sidhu and Sh. Arun Pal Singh, ADGP Prisons. The newly appointed recruits include 5 JBT Teachers, who will be instrumental in providing education to both the prisoners and their children, thereby contributing towards their rehabilitation and reintegration into society. Chandigarh, July 7: Punjab Water Resources Minister Sh. Barinder Kumar Goyal, on Monday, said that the Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann-led government has made foolproof arrangements to deal with any potential flood-like situation across Punjab. While chairing a high-level meeting, the Cabinet Minister reviewed ongoing flood mitigation efforts across the state, assessed the status of current flood control measures and evaluated the Water Resources Department's preparedness to handle potential emergencies. CHANDIGARH, July 6:           With the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state completed 127 days, Punjab Police on Sunday arrested 143 drug smugglers and recovered 3.5 kg heroin, 1.5 kg opium and Rs 54,750 drug money from their possession. Chandigarh, July 5 : Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday said that exemplary punishment will be ensured for those who have ruined the lives of the youth by selling drugs. Addressing a gathering after dedicating roads and libraries worth around ₹350 crore to the residents of the holy city, the Chief Minister, accompanied by senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia, said that the Jarnails who had patronised the drug trade have already been put behind bars.
