Chandigarh, August 24 The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to the welfare of freedom fighters and their families. To honour the brave heroes who made supreme sacrifices for India’s independence, the State Government is providing a monthly pension of Rs 11,000 to freedom fighters and their dependents. Freedom Fighters Minister Mr. Mohinder Bhagat said that earlier the pension was only Rs 9,400 per month, but the Mann Government increased it to Rs 11,000. Chandigarh, August 23: Taking a considerate step towards the welfare of differently-abled employees, the Punjab Government has decided to exempt them from night duties. Disclosing this, Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister, Dr. Baljit Kaur, said that clear instructions have been issued to all departmental heads not to assign night duty to visually impaired and physically challenged employees. Chandigarh/New Delhi, August 21  Punjab Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema has strongly demanded that the Central Government immediately release compensation of Rs.50,000 crore to Punjab to cover losses after GST implementation. After participating in the two-day meeting of the GST Ministerial Group on health and insurance, rationalizing rates, and compensation cess, Cheema said that since the implementation of GST in 2017, Punjab has suffered a total financial loss of Rs.1,11,045 crore.
