Chandigarh, September 12: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday said that the state government will ensure compensation to all the flood victims across the state within 45 days. Chairing a high level meeting here at his official residence, the Chief Minister said that a few days ago, he had announced that his government will give the highest compensation in the country — ₹20,000 per acre — to farmers for crop damage. He said that as a matter of fact this is the highest compensation in the history of Punjab. Chandigarh, September 10 In a landmark move to uphold the dignity and welfare of grassroots healthcare workers, Punjab Finance Minister Advocate Harpal Singh Cheema on Wednesday announced that Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) and ASHA Facilitators working in Health and Family Welfare Department under the National Health Mission (NHM) will now be entitled to six months of maternity leave. This benefit will be extended under the provisions of the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961.
