Vigilance Bureau arrests Naib Tehsildar, Patwari taking Rs 5000 bribe as first instalment

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state has apprehended Nirmal Singh, Naib Tehsildar Sangat Mandi, in Bathinda, and Gurtej Singh, Patwari,
posted at revenue halqua Kotguruke, red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 5000.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the aforementioned accused have been arrested based on a complaint lodged by a complainant from Sangat town in Bathinda.
He further informed that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 10000 for getting Girdwari (Mutation) done of his plot but the deal has been struck at Rs 8000.
