PUNJAB GOVT ANNOUNCES HOLIDAY IN SUB-DIVISION KAPURTHALA ON MAY 23

Chandigarh, May 21:           Punjab Government has declared a holiday in Sub-Division Kapurthala on May 23, 2025.           The officials spokesperson of the state government said that as per the notification issued today, this local holiday has been announced on Friday, May 23, 2025 in observance of the historic fair of Mata Bhadrakali Ji (Shekhupur) for all government institutions, corporations, boards, educational establishments (excluding those institutions where examinations are being conducted) and other government organizations falling within Sub-Division Kapurthala.

Zero tolerance against corruption : MVI arrested red handed accepting Rs 3,600 bribe

Chandigarh, May 19, 2025 –            Reinforcing the Punjab Government’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) Gurpreet Singh, posted at Faridkot, while accepting a bribe of Rs 3,600. During the operation the VB team has recovered Rs 7,200 from his possession and an additional Rs 1,26,500 from his vehicle, suspected to be bribe money.           An official VB spokesperson stated that the arrest followed a complaint from a Faridkot resident, who alleged that the accused had demanded Rs 1,800 per vehicle to approve the fitness certificates of his two trucks. Jalandhar, May 18: Further intensifying Yudh Nashia Virudh initiative, Punjab Horticulture, Freedom Fighters, and Defence Services Welfare Minister Mohinder Singh Bhagat today held meetings with warf defence committees of wards No. 42, 43, and 44 in the city, urging them to work resolutely against drug abuse and spread the message of drug de-addiction to every household.
