3 Child Beggars Rescued During 11 Special Raids Under Statewide Campaign: Dr. Baljit Kaur

Chandigarh, July 27: Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur today informed that under the ongoing state-level campaign “Project JEEVANJYOT–2”, three child beggars were rescued during 11 special raids carried out across various districts of Punjab. Since the launch of this phase of the campaign, a total of 195 children have been rescued through 190 special raids conducted over the last 11 days. She added that these raids were conducted by the district-level Child Protection Teams in Barnala, Bathinda, Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Pathankot, Patiala, Sangrur, Sri Muktsar Sahib, and Tarn Taran. CHANDIGARH, July 25:           Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 146th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 414 locations on Friday leading to the arrest of 103 drug smugglers after registration of 69 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. Chandigarh/Auckland, July 24: Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission Chairman Jasvir Singh Garhi met Indian Ambassador to New Zealand Dr. Madan Mohan Sethi. During this meeting, Mr. Garhi discussed with Mr. Sethi the issues of the Punjabi community living in New Zealand. He requested the Indian Ambassador to take special steps to increase trade activities between New Zealand and Punjab so that the farmers of Punjab can become more prosperous. He said that most of the people from Punjab who have settled in New Zealand are excelling in the field of agriculture. CHANDIGARH, July 23:           With the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state completed 144 days, Punjab Police on Wednesday arrested 130 drug smugglers and recovered 2 kg heroin, 500 grams opium and Rs 62,580 drug money from their possession.
