Chandigarh, September 21: Punjab Local Government Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh today informed that the department has mounted a wide-ranging flood relief and restoration campaign across the affected towns and villages. He said that apart from general measures such as debris clearance, carcass disposal, sewer cleaning and repair of public assets, the department has initiated targeted actions to ensure speed and efficiency in recovery efforts. Dr. Ravjot Singh stated that each officer has been assigned a specific jurisdiction under an “Area Responsibility Plan” with directions to prepare a detailed account of damages to houses, shops, roads, sewerage and other infrastructure. CHANDIGARH, September 21:           Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 204th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 374 locations on Sunday leading to the arrest of 89 drug smugglers after registration of 78 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 30,440 in 204 days.           The raids have resulted in recovery of 4.5 kg heroin, 2.3 kg ganja, 1524 intoxicant tablets/capsules and Rs 59,810 drug money from the possession of arrested drug smugglers.         ...

Chandigarh, September 20: Only 229 people are left in relief camps as families continue to return home, informed Punjab Revenue, Rehabilitation and Disaster Management Minister S. Hardeep Singh Mundian on Saturday. He said that the number of active relief camps has dropped sharply within the last 24 hours from 35 to just 16. The Cabinet Minister said that 665 more affected people returned to their homes today, while the total number of inmates stood at 894 yesterday. He said that the number of villages affected has gone up slightly from 2,539 to 2,555, mainly due to fresh reports from Hoshiarpur and Ludhiana. Sharing further details, S.
