CHANDIGARH, October 14:           Continuing the war against drugs “Yudh Nashian Virudh” waged by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to eradicate drug menace from state consecutively for the 227th day, Punjab Police conducted raids at 365 locations on Tuesday leading to the arrest of 76 drug smugglers after registration of 55 first information reports (FIRs) across the state. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 32,979 in 227 days.           The raids have resulted in recovery of 3 kg heroin, 506 grams opium, 44 kg poppy husk, 406 intoxicant tablets/capsules and Rs 1500 drug money from the possession of arrested drug smugglers.      &n...

Chandigarh, 14 October: Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur informed that the Punjab Government has released a total amount of ₹8.76 crore for 1,718 beneficiaries from backward classes and economically weaker sections under the Ashirwad Scheme during the current financial year 2025-26. Providing further details, Dr. Baljit Kaur said that under the Ashirwad Scheme, applications from beneficiaries in Barnala, Bathinda, Faridkot, Firozpur, Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Moga, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Patiala, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar, SBS Nagar, Sangrur, and Malerkotla were received during the current financial year.
